The Painted Tombs

The tomb consists of a single square chamber with a double-pitched roof and a wide ledge running along the wall base. In the pediment on the far wall, two roosters confront each other in a cock fight flanked by two felines; below this, a banquet scene depicting two couples surrounded by musicians and servants.
On the left-hand wall there is a portrayal of athletes with the accompaniment of two flute players, while a fully armed warrior, after which the tomb was named, is depicted on the wall to the right of the entrance. The right-hand wall is mostly damaged, with few discernible traces of two armed warriors, one of which is on horseback. The painting technique is quite poor and can be attributed to the hand of a local craftsman, both provincial and lacking in expertise.

Dating: late 5th – early 4th centuries B.C.
