This building certainly played a prominent role in the public life of the ancient city even though the name “Palazzo dei Priori”, given to it by the well-known historian L. Dasti, is not mentioned in any historical sources.
Tarchna, Corneto, Tarquinia
The denomination stems from the unification of various private buildings which were mostly dated between the 12th and 13th centuries. Currently, the structure is partially owned by the Tarquinian Society of Art and History (STAS) and is partially private property. The structure is enclosed by towers which confer upon the building a sense of majesty. The portion of the Art and Historical Society which faces the street, “Via delle Torri” houses the Ceramic Museum of artifacts used in Corneto, while the “Sala Sacchetti” is a quaint hall which can be reached from “Via dell’Archetto” and often hosts various cultural events and art exhibitions.
